COVID19 Update – Opening

UPDATE: Hours will be 7am-4pm for the first two weeks of opening. If you have not already done so, Please complete this form to help us plan for our opening and weeks ahead.

We continue to carefully monitor Linn County COVID 19 spread and positive cases. Thankfully this week, we are seeing a trending decrease in COVID cases. As recommended by CDC and Public Health, 14 days of consistent decrease in cases is the best indicator for re-opening safely. As anxious as we are to open our doors, we are committed to re-opening responsibly. It is our plan to re-open on May 18, 2020.  This decision is consistent with the extended stay at home order for Linn County through May 15th

Thank you for completing the survey last week regarding your family’s childcare needs. The majority of families indicated June 1st is their projected date to resume our services, however we are making every effort to accommodate families who need our services immediately with re-opening date set for May 18, 2020.

Updated Policies & Procedures

Just as before, upon opening our program will be available to all enrolled families, not limited to essential workers. Still, all state and national health agencies encourage parents who can work while keeping children at home to do so in order to keep community spread as low as possible. We understand every family has a unique situation and we want to accommodate you in a safe and responsible manner.

DHS has instituted additional safety and screening procedures which every center must follow including:

  1. Temperatures taken at school entry upon arrival
  2. Remove and limit plush toys from classrooms
  3. Limit classroom sizes, classroom combining and shared spaces such as gym, hallways and cafeteria
  4. Drop off and pickup at entry, limited access to classrooms
  5. Parent disclosure of travel and employment exposure
  6. Stricter sick and return policies

Tuition & Holding Fees

Our program is re-opening May 18, ready to serve our families. We need your help to plan for staffing and budgeting, please read the following and complete the linked form to make sure tuition resumes accordingly with your family’s plans.

DHS requires child care vacancies to be reported and updated in an effort to place families in need of immediate services. We continue to enroll new families who are anxious to secure placement for late summer and early Fall. However, we want to give priority to our previously enrolled families in this time of uncertainty.

Tuition payments will resume May 18 for all those who resume services at that time. We recognize not everyone needs services right away. For this reason we want to be flexible and also provide our previously enrolled families guaranteed placement until that time comes. For families who are planning to resume our services later than June 1, we offer to hold your child’s placement up to Sept 1st with a holding fee of $250.00 per child.
